Higher Elevation Studio, located in the New Glasgow, Nova Scotia area, is a multi-room media facility featuring video editing suites, a shooting stage, and a boutique recording studio. The recording studio features a Neve 5088 console with 12 channels of Shelford 5052 pre amplifiers and two 5051 compressors. Outboard devices include 8 Channels of Manley Force Mic Amps and a Manley VoxBox. 8 Additional channels of Audient mic amps round out the front end stages. The Primary recording DAW features 32 channels of Apogee Symphony D/A and A/D interface with a Protools HDX system which is running on a MacPro Server. Audio monitors feature Focal mains and Neumann Nearfield monitors.
The studio features key instruments onsite including a Custom Gretsch Drum Kit, a Wurlitzer A-200, Hammond B3, and a collection of acoustic and electric Guitars. Up to date softwares from Arturia and Apple are also integrated on the control room MacIntosh based system. Studio B offers video options and can be linked to the main control room via Dante, or traditional analog links. Studio C, which comprises the downstairs of the building, can be configured for recording, or video editing. Both floors feature comfortable lounges and places to gather one’s thoughts in between work sessions.
Higher Elevation’s Mic Closet has an excellent complement of Large Diaphragm microphones, including several Mojave, Audio Technica, and Neumann. The studio has an original Telefunken U47 featuring a VF14 tube, which is in excellent condition. A vintage U87 and U64 round out the Vintage mic collection, all of which are near-perfect period examples.
Perhaps the most exquisite feature of Higher Elevation Studio is the incredibly detailed design and finish work by local master craftsmen. Acoustical and Technical Design was done by Kevin Hughes of DesignTeknik in Frisco TX. The studio offers outdoor areas weather permitting and a gated parking area for privacy and security.
